What is CAGR?
CAGR (compound annual growth rate) is the annualized rate of return that would turn an initial investment into the final value over a given number of years, assuming compound growth. It smooths out volatility and lets you compare returns across different time periods. Formula: (End value / Start value)^(1/years) − 1, expressed as a percentage.
This CAGR calculator needs the starting value, ending value, and number of years. It returns the equivalent constant annual return. For example, if an investment grew from $10,000 to $18,000 in 5 years, the CAGR is about 12.5%. That means 12.5% compounded annually would produce the same result.
When to use CAGR

CAGR vs average return
CAGR is not the same as the average of yearly returns. Volatility matters: two investments with the same average return can have different CAGRs if one is more volatile. CAGR is the geometric mean and is the correct way to express annualized compound growth.
